Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder characterized by shallow breathing or even complete pauses in breathing while asleep. As you can imagine, this can result in various complications from daytime sleepiness to an increased risk of heart disease. Obstructive Sleep Apnea, or OSA, is the most common form of sleep apnea and is caused by a blockage of the airway. Because of the nature of the disorder, detecting and diagnosing sleep apnea can be difficult. Currently, treatment is provided in the form of an oral appliance, also known as a mandibular repositioning device, worn to help keep the airway propped open. However, not everyone responds the same way to this kind of treatment as the causes of the blockage can vary.

How Can MATRx Help?

MATRx is a polysomnography tool used to help diagnose and treat OSA. It’s used in conjunction with other polysomnography equipment to help gather detailed information about physiological changes that occur during sleep. MATRx is carefully designed to have no impact on the quality of your sleep. If you’re approved for a MATRx study, you’ll visit your dentist for a consultation, during which your jaw and its range of motion will be assessed. Then, you’ll be fitted with a MATRx tray by a sleep technician who will perform the study. The results are analyzed by a physician, who will ultimately use it to create a customized treatment plan for you.

What Makes MATRx Different?

MATRx is set apart from other similar sleep test kits by the accuracy and precision through which it is able to predict an effective treatment plan. The final oral appliance is specially designed for your specific needs so you’ll get the treatment you need in an effective and efficient manner. Moreover, the MATRx system is simple to use and easy to learn.
