WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS STAYS IN VEGAS

Dr. Rhemtulla’s passion for continuous learning has taken her to the Las Vegas Institute (LVI).  At LVI, dentists are educated on the state of the art technology, products, delivery systems and techniques that will allow them to provide comprehensive treatment to their patients.

The LVI philosophy is based on neuromuscular science which is an approach to dental treatment that focuses on the correction of jaw misalignment.  A syndrome or dysfunction known as TMJ or TMD refers to the symptoms that develop when teeth, facial muscles, and jaw  (temporomandibular) joints are out of alignment.

Most North Americans suffer from TMJ to some degree, and never suspect that their pain or symptoms are caused by problems with alignment in their jaw. It is often misdiagnosed and as a result they are never treated correctly.

Symptoms of TMJ/TMD can include:
* Headaches / migraines

* Facial, Neck and shoulder pain

* Ringing in the ears

* Loose teeth (not caused by injury)

* Sensitive and sore teeth

* Worn or cracked teeth

* Jaw pain

* Limited jaw movement or locking jaw

* Clicking or popping in the jaw joints

* Numbness in fingers and arms

Neuromuscular dentists determine the optimal position of the jaw in order to correct misalignment and adjust how the upper and lower teeth come together (occlusion). By realigning the jaw joint through the use of cosmetic dental restorations, tooth re-contouring or orthodontics, neuromuscular dentists strive to alleviate stress from the jaw muscles and eliminate painful symptoms of TMJ or TMD.

Dr. Rhemtulla currently treats neuromuscular patients but she will bring back the knowledge learned at this course to better serve her patients.

So in this case, what happens in Vegas Will Not Stay in Vegas!
